hotel room can be cozy, warm and inviting or it can be dingy and cold, all based on the lighting. For hotels that want to create the right ambiance for their guests, lighting is a central focus of that. Lighting is not something to take lightly when planning the design of a hotel room. It can make or break the ambiance of the space, which, in turn, will make a difference in the guest experience.
There are a few points that we can do with lighting:
- Change the color of the room
With today’s lighting technology, lights could provide different shades of colors, known as color temperature. Whether a more white color is used for bright, clean and modern look, warm/ more yellow-ish color is for calm and more relaxing feel.
2. Highlight focal points
Artsy piece on the wall, or the beautiful bed set, we can somehow ‘set’ the main focus of the first entry of the guest into certain focal points in the hotel room.
3. Improve visibility in the bathroom or luggage area
Guests rely on the bathroom area when preparing for their day. They need bright, natural-colored light in order to put on makeup and hairdo effectively. As important as the bathroom lighting, luggage area is one of the major part where guests are usually need to search and take out some stuffs from their luggage.
Though there are different types of ambiance and mood that are offered by hotel operators or owners of the property, lighting plays a major part of how users will perceive the design and space they will use, and how the property owners want to make them feel.
